Purity: 999.5 ‰ fine silver
Shape: Refined granulate with a mixed grain size of approx. 0.2 - 4 mm. This casting grain is ideally suitable for jewelers, goldsmiths and manufacturers for smelting, alloying and casting and ultimately for the production of semi-finished products and finished jewelry.
Production: Granules are often an intermediate product on the way from mine gold or silver to the inished piece of jewelry. The granules are produced after melting, when the liquid fine gold or silver drips through a hot sieve into water and solidifies into small spheres in the process. The resulting gold or silver pellets look like small nuggets from the gold digger era. Goldsmiths and jewelry manufacturers can easily weigh out the required amount of fine gold or fine silver and add it to alloys to produce semi-finished products.
Certification: ASM = Artisanal and Small-scale Mining. This Fair ASM Silver is not certified by a 3rd party as it was purchased during a year when the mine of origin was not certified for silver. However, we have full traceability of origin for this material and are very confident about the fair mining practices at the time of purchase, which is why Fairever assures its responsible origin.
Fair standards: The small-scale mining organizations from which this silver originates, operate currently under Fairtrade or Fairmined standards and have a long-standing reputation for their strong sense of responsibility towards people and nature. The workers receive a fair wage for their work. Protective clothing as well as health and safety training are mandatory. Abusive child labour is prohibited. All these responsible mining practices have been widely covered by positive reports by NGOs and the media.
Fair ASM Silver is very scarce and precious, as it is only found as a by-product in responsible gold mining. 1 kilogram of doré gold (containing approx. 800 grams of gold) contains only approx. 100 to 150 grams of silver. So we need to sell 5 to 8 times more gold than silver! The costs in small-scale gold mining are naturally much higher than in industrial silver mining. In addition, segregated refining is relatively cost-intensive.
Origin: CECOMSAP, Peru. Under the umbrella organization CECOMSAP, 10 mining cooperatives have joined forces. They are located in the district of Ananea in the province of Puno, about 4,700 meters above sea level. The area is characterized by cold and snowy weather with temperatures ranging between -10 °C to +10 °C. An association of this kind is an outstanding achievement and opens up the possibility for CECOMSAP to emerge as a strong trading partner.
Packaging: We put the ordered precious metals into resealable and recyclable transparent plastic bags. On the product label you'll find all the relevant details.
