Post-Consumer Recycled Gold Grain - 999.9 ‰ - 24 kt
Our casting grain is made from 100% post-consumer recycled gold, refined to a purity of 999.9 ‰ and 24 karats. Every lot is processed in strictly segregated batches to guarantee full transparency and traceability throughout the refining process.
Unlike many recycled products on the market, this gold contains no pre-consumer manufacturing scrap and no remelted bullion or investment products. It is sourced exclusively from end-of-life jewellery, watches, dental alloys, electronics, and industrial residues.
This makes our grain a true circular material, extending the life of precious metals already in circulation and reducing the pressure on newly mined resources. Independent assays confirm the purity of every batch. RJC Chain of Custody certification is currently in preparation.
Our post-consumer recycled gold grain is a refined granulate with approximately a mixed grain size of 0.2 - 4 mm. It is ideally suitable for jewelers, goldsmiths, and manufacturers for smelting, alloying, and casting and, ultimately, for the production of semi-finished products and finished jewelry.
The granules are produced after melting when the fine liquid gold or silver drips through a hot sieve into the water and solidifies into small spheres. The resulting gold or silver pellets look like small nuggets from the gold digger era. Goldsmiths and jewelry manufacturers can easily weigh out the required amount of fine gold or fine silver and add it to alloys to produce semi-finished products.
Most frequently asked questions about Fairmined Gold Grain.
It refers to gold recovered from end-of-life products such as jewellery, watches, dental alloys, electronics, and industrial residues. It does not include factory scrap or bullion remelt.
Our gold is refined in segregated batches according to RJC requirements. Full RJC Chain of Custody certification is in preparation. Every lot is independently assayed to 999.9 ‰ purity.
Because conventional recycled gold may contain newly mined gold that never reached a customer. Post-consumer ensures true circularity, reduces pressure on mining, and avoids risks of opaque or illegal supply chains.
Our pricing of the post-consumer recycled gold consists of 2 components:
- Current Gold Market Price
- Premium
1. Current Gold Market Price
The gold market price, also known as the spot price, represents the current value of gold per ounce traded in the global market. It is influenced by various factors including supply and demand dynamics, economic indicators, geopolitical tensions, and investor sentiment. The spot price serves as a benchmark for pricing gold-related products and is continuously fluctuating based on market conditions.
2. Premium
The premium includes the costs associated with logistics, production, distribution, and marketing, as well as the additional costs that come along with trading separately refined gold products, such as auditing costs and separate administration. Ultimately, the premium reflects the higher production costs due to the small amounts of responsible and traceable gold products in the market relative to conventional gold products.
Sourcing responsibly usually comes with a lot of questions.

About Post-Consumer Sourcing
Post-consumer recycled gold is recovered from products that have completed their first life in the hands of end-users. This includes jewellery, watches, dental alloys, electronics, and industrial residues.
Unlike pre-consumer factory scrap or bullion remelt, post-consumer gold:
- ensures true circularity by extending the life of existing gold,
- reduces pressure on newly mined resources, and
- avoids risks from opaque or illegal supply chains.
Every batch is refined to 999.9 purity and independently assayed before re-entering the market.
Our recycled gold is refined by Stephen Betts & Sons (UK) — a family-owned business operating since 1760 and one of the oldest precious metal refiners in Europe.
Betts is independently audited to Fairmined and Fairtrade standards and is known for its strict environmental and ethical practices. Every lot of post-consumer feedstock is melted, purified, and assayed to 999.9 ‰ fine gold before entering the market as casting grain or bar.
The objective is to bring about positive change to small-scale mining, promote sustainable socioeconomic development, ensure environmental protection, and give everyone access to responsibly mined gold and silver. The Fairmined certification system is secured by independent, accredited auditing organizations. This ensures that the mining organizations comply with the requirements of the Fairmined Standard. The entire supply chain is audited, which includes all companies working with and making claims about Fairmined Gold and Fairmined Silver, from the mine to the finished piece of jewelry.
Benefits for mining communities:
- A guaranteed minimum price of 95 % of the London Bullion Market price for gold and silver (Fairever even pays 96 % to 98 % for gold and 100 % to 160 % for silver!)
- A premium for better living and working conditions and community development
- Investment in organizational and social development and environmental protection

The Fairmined initiative was founded by the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), an international non-governmental organization that is regarded as a pioneer and leading organization in the field of responsible artisanal & small-scale gold mining since its foundation in 2004. ARM supports this form of mining to make it a legal, organized, and profitable activity that uses efficient technologies and is socially and environmentally responsible. To achieve the goal of responsible mining, the Fairmined Initiative works with all relevant stakeholders throughout the supply chain: From artisanal mines to legislators, manufacturers, jewelers, and consumers. This stakeholder forum is the largest in this area and represents the various perspectives of the respective groups in a joint program.
The Fairmined website provides detailed information about ARM's work, the Fairmined Standard, and its benefits for artisanal and small-scale mining organizations.
About Fairtrade
Fairtrade is a product seal that in addition to many other products also certifies gold and silver from responsible artisanal & small-scale mining organisations.
The Fairtrade certification system is secured by independent, accredited auditing organizations such as FLOCERT.
You'll find detailed information about the work of Fairtrade, the "Fairtrade Standard for Gold and Associated Precious Metals for Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining" and its benefits for artisanal and small-scale mining organisations on Fairtrade's website.
