FAQs Pricing

What is the price difference between Fairtrade or Fairmined certified gold and conventional gold?

The Fairtrade and Fairmined standards provide miners with a stable livelihood while protecting their health and unique natural environment. Components of the standard include a guarantee that Fairtrade or Fairmined certified mines will be paid a minimum price of 95% of the London World Market price for gold, plus an additional social premium of $2,000 to $6,000 per kilogram.

Another aspect to consider is that gold from small-scale mining is imported in small quantities, so the logistical costs are higher than importing gold from industrial mining. For Fairtrade or Fairmined gold, you pay the fair price for responsible mining practices in developing countries.

The price difference to conventional gold varies from product to product.
