Product information "Fairtrade Gold Coin 999 ‰ 24 kt - 1/10 oz, Melusina, Luxembourg"

Purity: 99.9 ‰ fine gold

Product: The minted commemorative coin made of 99.9 % fine gold with 1/10 ounce (3.11 grams) fine weight is a beautiful reminder of a special monument for Luxembourg. The face value of the coin is 10 Euro - but the pure material and collector's value is of course many times higher. (For comparison: The well-known gold coin "Wiener Philharmoniker" of 1/10 ounce also has a face value of 10 Euros).

Dimensions: The gold coin with the preservation grade polished plate (PP) has a diameter of 16 mm and a height of 1,05 mm.

Circulation: This coin was emitted in a strictly limited edition of only 1,500 pieces. It is therefore a real rarity with a colloctor's value!

Certification: The fine gold contained in this product is responsibly mined by Fairtrade certified Artisanal & Small-scale Mining Organizations (ASMOs), fairly traded and certified according to the Fairtrade Standard for Gold and Associated Precious Metals for Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining of Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International e.V..

The story of Melusina: The sculpture of Melusina, the work of Serge Ecker, was erected in 2015 on the banks of the river Alzette and near the Bock rock, on which the castle of Siegefroi, Count of Luxembourg, once stood. According to legend, Melusina, Siegefroi's wife, had asked to be allowed to stay alone in her room out of sight one day a week. Sigefroi was overcome by curiosity and, clandestinely watching his wife, he discovered that she was turning into a mermaid. Betrayed, Melusina threw herself out the castle window and disappeared forever in the Alzette. This story has become the favourite legend of the inhabitants of the City of Luxembourg. About Fairtrade: Fairtrade is a product seal that is already well known from food items such as coffee or chocolate. The Fairtrade product seal certifies gold and silver from responsible artisanal & small-scale mining organizations with the objective to bring about positive change to small-scale mining, promote sustainable social-economic development, ensure environmental protection and give everyone access to responsibly mined gold. The Fairtrade certification system is secured by independent, accredited auditing organizations such as FLOCERT. This ensures that the mining organizations comply with the requirements of the Fairtrade Standard. The entire supply chain is audited, which includes all companies working with and making claims about Fairtrade Gold and Fairtrade Silver, from the mine to the finished piece of jewelry.

Benefits for mining communities:

  • A guaranteed minimum price of 95 % of the London Bullion Market price for gold and silver (Fairever even pays 97 % to 99 % for gold!)
  • A premium for better living and working conditions and community development
  • Investment in organisational and social development and environmental protection

You'll find detailed information about the work of Fairtrade, the Fairtrade Gold Standard and its benefits for artisanal and small-scale mining organisations at https://fairtrade.net.
